JACKSON – Finding information about the Michigan Shakespeare Festival just became easier, following the recent launch of the organization’s redesigned website at www.MichiganShakespeareFestival.com.

Highlights of the new design include easier access to online ticket purchases, descriptions of the 2011 shows – Much Ado About Nothing, The Winter’s Tale and Tartuffe – and information about the Festival’s growing education outreach program, including its popular ShortShakes Tour which will visit at least 30 high schools this spring.

“The new design is clean, simple and, most importantly, easy to use,” MSF Chief Operating Officer Richard Griffis said. “With the majority of our patrons now purchasing their tickets online, we wanted to simplify the process. This new website is an important first step.”

The new website is the result of the Festival’s selection to participate in Lansing Give Camp, an annual three-day event that brought together more than 100 professional developers, designers and database administrators to donate their time and create custom solutions for 13 mid-Michigan non-profit organizations in early April. Hosting for the site is being donated by Lansing-based LiquidWeb.

“We are extremely grateful for all of the work that the Give Camp volunteers did on our behalf,” Griffis said. “A new website is something we have needed for quite a while, but we didn’t have the budget to attempt. And, with the start of the 2011 Festival only a few months away, it couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Romantic Comedy, French Farce, and Dreamy Enchantment are on the agenda this summer for the Michigan Shakespeare Festival’s 17th season. Fan favorite Much Ado About Nothing will anchor two plays new to the Festival: Moliere’s Tartuffe and Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. MSF’s professional Shakespearean company will run all three shows in rotating repertory from July 14-August 7 at the Jackson Community College Potter Center.

Adult tickets start at $30 and are available online at www.MichiganShakespeareFestival.com.
