November 17, 2010 -- The Michigan Shakespeare Festival announces auditions for our 2011 ShortShakes High School Touring Production, The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet.
Auditions will be held:

at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Hall
215 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI 49201
Please prepare a two-minute Shakespeare monologue (comedic preferred, but not required). All ages and types are encouraged to audition.

About the ShortShakes Tour:
- The 90-minute production will rehearse in January.
- Performances will run, when booked, from February 7 through May 27, 2011 in high schools in Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties.
- Performances will be held in the mornings with start times between 8:30-11 a.m.
- Actors will always have at least two weeks notice for a performance.
- Each performance pays $50, with an extra travel stipend for long-distance shows.
- We are looking to book between 10 and 25 performances — more if possible.
- This is a non-Equity contract.
